Whether it’s for an embarrassing episode, or you just need to clean up your device’s storage space, Spotify makes it easy to delete podcasts from your library. Just log into your account and go to your Library, then select ‘Podcasts.’
Podcasts are audio content like talk radio shows or e-books that explore just about anything. They can be listened to on both desktop and mobile devices.
Unsubscribe
Podcasts on Spotify are a popular way to listen to music and learn new things. But sometimes you might want to remove a podcast from your library because it’s no longer relevant or you don’t have the time to keep up with it. Fortunately, it’s easy to do so in just a few simple steps.
To unsubscribe from a podcast, go to the Your Library tab and select the podcast you want to stop following. Once you do this, the podcast will no longer appear in your list of subscribed shows and you won’t receive updates about future episodes. However, any episode downloads you have on your device will remain there until they’re manually deleted.
If you’re using a mobile device, you can also delete individual downloaded podcasts by tapping on the Downloaded tab at the bottom of the screen. You may have to swipe left to see this tab if it’s hidden from your other playlist or artist tabs. Once you’re there, simply tap on the green-and-black arrow to remove a specific podcast episode from your downloads. You’ll then be asked to confirm that you want to delete the podcast episode from your downloads.
Spotify makes it easy to manage your podcasts on both their desktop and mobile apps. The desktop app offers the option to clear your entire library by selecting “Clear Content” from the menu and clicking on “OK.” You can also remove an individual podcast from your library by right-clicking on it and choosing “Remove from Library.”
If you’re using a mobile device, it’s slightly more complicated because you don’t have access to the menu that lets you clear your whole library. Instead, you need to select the podcast you want to remove and then click on the three-dot menu that appears. This will prompt a pop-up window with the option to either “Unfollow” or “Remove from Library.” Click on the latter, and the podcast will be removed from your mobile device.
Clear Browsing Data
Sometimes it’s a good idea to clear browsing data from podcasts on spotify, especially if you don’t want Spotify to know what you have been listening to. Luckily, it’s fairly easy to do from the mobile app or desktop program. You just need to navigate to the podcast episode in question and tap the three horizontal dots (Android) or vertical dots (iPhone/iPad). Then, you will be presented with a menu with a few options; select “Remove from Your Library” to delete it.
If you have any episodes that have been downloaded, you can also delete those from your device by tapping on the download icon. This will remove the podcast episode from your device and free up space for other content that you may want to download in the future.
Removing podcasts from your Library can be a great way to declutter your account and keep your listening experience fresh and organized. This can be particularly helpful if you have subscribed to multiple different podcasts and find yourself listening to one episode more than others.
If your podcast is distributed through an aggregator, you will need to contact that aggregator directly to request removal from the platform. This is because the aggregator is responsible for submitting podcasts to Spotify, and they are the only ones who can actually take them down.
Depending on the type of account or device you are using, deleting podcasts from your playlists can either remove them from your library completely or just hide them from view. This can be a useful feature to have, as it can save you time when searching for new content or clearing up your music library for other purposes.
Another great way to manage your playlists is to use Spotify’s personalization features. These are available on the Home page of your Spotify account, and they can be used to tailor content that is personalized to your liking. You can remove Spotify suggestions at any time by navigating to the Home page of your account and selecting the option to “Remove suggestions”. This will prevent Spotify from recommending songs, albums, or playlists that you have already listened to.
Contact the Aggregator
If you’ve listened to a podcast on Spotify, it may show up on your listening history, even after it’s been removed from the service. This is because if the podcast is distributed through an aggregator like Libsyn or Blubrry, Spotify can’t delete it directly. However, the aggregator can remove it from your account, so you should contact them to ask them to do so.
This will remove the podcast from your playlists and listen history, but it will not delete the episode from your device. To completely remove the episode from your device, you must manually delete it. You can do this by opening the Podcast app and tapping the Library tab. This tab is located at the top of the screen and shows all the content that’s downloaded to your phone or tablet. To remove an individual episode, tap and hold the episode’s name and then tap the three horizontal dots at the top-right corner of the episode. Tap the “Automatic Downloads” switch to turn it off.
One of the reasons why podcasts are such a popular form of audio entertainment is that they can be consumed on the go. But to listen to your favorite podcasts on the go, you need to have an ample amount of mobile storage space available.
If your storage is full, you can free up space on your smartphone or tablet by clearing the Spotify cache. This will help you get rid of any accumulated data and ensure that your music or podcasts load properly.
The revamped Home page now separates music and podcasts, allowing you to easily find the songs or episodes that you want to hear. The feature is rolling out now to Android users and will soon be available on iOS as well.
For producers, the new Home page can provide some valuable insight into how your audience engages with your podcast. Total Starts and Streams give an overview of overall engagement, while Unique Listeners provides a more detailed view by removing multiple plays from the same listener. This metric can give you a better understanding of why your podcast performs the way that it does.
Contact Spotify
Spotify doesn’t offer a single tool for deleting all of your downloaded podcast episodes at once. You can, however, delete individual episodes. This process is fairly quick and easy. To do this, tap the Downloaded tab. It’s the last of the tabs that run along the top of the screen. Once you’ve opened the tab, you’ll see a list of everything that’s been downloaded to your device. To delete an episode, swipe left on the episode title and select “Remove Download”. This will only remove the episode from your downloads; it won’t delete the podcast itself or any of the other audio files that were included in the podcast’s original release.
Spotify gathers loads of user data — including the songs and podcasts you listen to, how often you open the app, and the ads you click on — in order to sell you more stuff. They publicize this like it’s a good thing, but this kind of privacy invasion is not cool. It’s especially bad when a large company uses your private listening moments to advertise for itself.
If you’re sick of Spotify using your personal information, here are a few things to try to get them to stop. First, you can contact Spotify directly. They have a contact form on their website that you can use to ask them to stop using your information. You can also write a letter to them explaining why you’re concerned and asking them to change their policies.
You can even delete your account completely if you want to. Just remember that if you do this, you won’t be able to reclaim your username or any of the music you’ve uploaded to the service. You’ll also lose any student discounts you had on the service. If you do decide to delete your account, Spotify will send you a reactivation link within seven days of deleting your account.
You can also disable auto-downloads for individual podcasts by tapping on the three dots in the upper right corner of a podcast’s display and selecting “Remove from Library”. Then, you can manually select and download new episodes on your own.
