Every boy and many girls have dreamed of owning a Ferrari. Few brands have the same passionate following that stretches from classic car collectors to rabid racing fans. And if you want to buy one, you might be in luck—Ferrari just reported its best sales year ever.

The Italian sports car maker sold 13,221 vehicles last year, surpassing the previous record set in 2021, according to its recently released financial results. Its net profit also hit a new high of about $939 million. The company’s sales gains came largely from China and the Americas. Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan saw deliveries jump 73% to 1,552 cars. Sales in the Americas rose by 22% to 3,447.

And despite worries of a global recession, the ultra-rich are still willing to shell out for luxury trophy cars. The key, Ferrari demonstrates, is to keep production just behind demand. Doing otherwise would risk flooding the market and lowering prices. Ferrari has perfected that art—and it has a slew of Ferraris for sale to prove it.

Ferrari’s sales juggernaut is continuing into 2023, with CEO Benedetto Vigna boasting of an “even stronger year than ever before.” He said that sales are strong worldwide and that the Purosangue SUV—the first high-riding four-door Ferrari—will boost physical volumes.

The iconic Ferrari 250 GTO is still the holy grail for many classic car collectors, and it’s likely to remain so for a long time. Only 36 examples were built, and the cars dominated racing in their day. A recent sale saw a GTO sell for over $70 million.

A more affordable option is the Testarossa, which took the market by storm in 1984. Its name harkened back to Ferrari’s 1957 racer, and the new model offered more than style. The Testarossa’s 5.0-liter flat-12 engine produced nearly 400 horsepower.

For 1985, the Testarossa gained a more modern exterior, while maintaining its original dimensions. It also added a more conventional two-mirror setup and swapped its 16-inch wheels for larger ones.

The 430 S is the most popular Ferrari in the current lineup, and it’s easy to see why. Its powerful V12 can propel the S to 62 mph in less than three seconds. Its aerodynamics and handling make it a formidable competitor in the world of performance cars.

For buyers who don’t want to spend the big bucks for a 430 S, the 308 GTB is a more accessible model. It’s not as quick as the S, but it offers a more refined driving experience.
